About Rachel

After receiving my master’s degree in social work from the University of Maryland School of Social Work with a mental health concentration, I worked at the National Institute of Mental Health for seven years. At the NIMH, I saw people and families struggling with a wide array of difficult personal issues, ranging from grief to chronic stress to difficult family relationships. Some of my clients were struggling with mental illness; some were struggling with the stresses of daily life.

Today, I incorporate my training and experience into my work as a therapist. My therapeutic approach is grounded in insight-oriented and systems theory. I use both talk therapy and, when appropriate, simple forms of meditation and focused breathing. My belief in the possibility of positive change is at the core of my work.
